Every couple has a vision of the moment the doors open and they walk down the aisle. For many, that vision includes the breathtaking, emotional sound of live strings.
But what happens when wedding planning hits a major snag?
Maybe your original musician just had to cancel due to an emergency. Or maybe, you originally decided not to book ceremony music, but are now strating to worry about that decision.
If you are planning a Summer 2026 wedding and find yourself in either of these situations, first: Take a deep breath. As a wedding violinist, I am here to tell you that your walk down the aisle can still be everything you dreamed of. Here is a quick guide on how to handle a last-minute music crisis—and how I might be able to help.
1. Don’t Settle for a Bluetooth Speaker
When a vendor falls through, the knee-of-the-jerk reaction is often to just give up and ask a bridesmaid to press “play” on a phone connected to a venue speaker. While it works in a pinch, it often lacks the emotion, timing, and romance of live music. Live musicians can adapt on the fly—if your train gets caught or the flower girl takes her time, a live violinist can stretch the music seamlessly. A phone track can’t do that!
2. Check for “Hidden” Availability
You might assume that because we are in the middle of peak wedding season, every professional musician is booked solid. But schedules change, dates shift, and unexpected openings happen. It is never too late to ask.
3. Streamline Your Music Choices
If you are booking a musician last-minute, stick to a professional who already has a solid repertoire of both classical standards and modern pop covers. This ensures they can pull off a flawless performance without needing months of preparation for a highly obscure track.
